Here's the synopsis on NNC from Briefing. Seems upbeat. Things may not be so bad if the market focuses on the revenue increase. I agree with your long term view on NNc.

NEWBRIDGE NETWORKS CORP. (NN) 39 7/8 CLOSED. Canadian networking concern posted a fiscal 4th qtr net
of C$0.38 or $0.28 a share U.S. using the average exchange rate for the quarter, excluding a research in process charge.
Latest net is in line with the First Call mean estimate and compares with a net of $0.25 a share in the year-ago period.
According to the company, revenue in the latest quarter rose 62% to C$441.3 million from C$271.9 million a year ago,
while orders exceeded shipments in the latest 4th qtr. Sequentially, revenue was also up 32%. The company noted that its
asynchronous transfer mode revenue in the latest quarter was more than 2.5 times higher than a year earlier, while frame relay
revenue was 90% higher year-over-year. While earnings were in line with expectations, the jump in revenue is very
impressive and hopefully will be seen constructively by investors following yesterday's major price markdown of many
networking issues on renewed fears over industry conditions. Yesterday, the stock lost $2 a share or 4.8%, much less than
other networking issues. And last night's report could provide some comfort to investors in this issue, although the jury is still
out for the sector in general. Given the across the board selling that occurred yesterday, some selective buying could lead to a
small rebound in some networking stocks today.
