" I find that there are not too many that have generated meaningful ideas to date"

People dont generate ideas as much as ideas are being generated from people. IOW a good number of ideas for me are sparked by interaction with people and situations. Granted sometimes I may consider the contrarian view, but never the less the ideas were sparked by some type of interaction.

Couple the above with lots of current reading and a few screens, voila a whole stable of opportunities arise.

ie......

Screening for dividend paying stocks may lead you to xxx utiltiy. you run into some consultant at a party that speicalizes in utility managment systems. You ask whats new they comment about the "smart grid". I read a bunch about the smart grid. I research enough about it to sound reasonably knowlegable and chat agian with consultant. I realize every real player in the industry is non investable (bot GRID anyway, sigh). Learned that non public companies were eating everyone lunch. focused on one. that one failed in first IPO offering. A couple years later finally got off the ground. SSNI bought at offering and aftermarket.

Opportunities are all around...................Personally I listen to McSweet.......;^D
