The GOP has to get over its fascination with being democrat lite. Coke reversed course within a year of failing to out Pepsi, Pepsi. Why are Republicans unable to digest the lesson. Dole, McCain, Romney. (Two war casualties and a Rich CEO.)

The list reminds me of McGovern, Mondale, Dukakis. Democrats learned not to send a boy scout to do a man's work. Republicans need to learn the same lesson. Yes, some times a Kerry slips in, but people often fail to question things that sound too good to be true, such as Kerry's "war hero" status.

We will all look back now on our major objection to him last spring. "He is too nice a guy." Turned out to me right. Trouble is, I don't think any of the others could have done better.

I suspect that we will continue down this road to perdition until it gets so bad that a firebreather on our side can reverse it. Otherwise, we will end up like France.

It is probably already too late for America. Look at Argentina for an example of how fast we can slip over the edge.
