Alan, some Cognos/IBM news; rebound guess.
--Today Cognos annced on cdn newswire:
CGI, a Paris, France-based
subsidiary of IBM, will resell Cognos' market- leading business
intelligence tools, Impromptu and PowerPlay, as part of its Human
Resources Management applications offering. CGI will completely
integrate the Cognos products into the CGI applications and resell
them under the CGI name. Financial terms were not disclosed.
-----This cannot hurt Cognos share price! IBM as a reseller.
-----Cognos rebound price after 3:1 split. Hey, this is like Berkshire
coming down from $35K to a tenth. Just allows more volume. For me,
Cognos now seems more able to grow. But historically, splits tend to be
neutral on the average (from article in Globe&Mail). I bought Cognos
partly because of the split---am hoping for maybe a 5% rebound after a
few weeks.

imho
