WPC2000] Taiwan's Micro-Star Int'l to Show Set-Top Boxes for Japan
October 18, 2000 (TOKYO) -- Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. of Taiwan is introducing a pair of set-top Internet access appliances for Japanese use at World PC Expo 2000.

These boxes will not be available under the MSI name, but will be made available to ISPs and other OEMs for delivery to the customer. The less expensive model of the series "MS520S" contains no hard disk, but instead uses disk-on-chip technology for storage. It incorporates the Microsoft Windows CE operating system, as does the "big-brother" MS-5206 model (picture), which includes a video DVD player as well as the option of internal hard disk storage.
