This is not true. Windows is much faster on the internet using an Zyxel ISDN router than an ISDN modem, both at 64kbps. Since the ISDN router contains an ISDN modem, it means that a small embedded operating system running on an inferior processor platform is much faster than Windows running on the newest Intel processors...

In fact, Ameritech in Denmark lost a case on an advertisement, that told that ISDN would be much faster than an analog connection. Since Ameritech sold ISDN modems and the customers used Windows, this was not the case. The performance gains only comes with a router or Linux.

Last week I saw a benchmark of a new Nokia GSM modem that would be able to surf with a higher data rate than the usual 9.600bps on GSM. I believe it was the 46kbps GSM standard. The article described how the promised throughput was only achievable on Linux, not on Windows, which obviously was an annoyance to the author, who was not using Linux on his personal laptop...
