<<I've used thousands of floppies, and I've never encountered that serious a problem.>>

I have. I have tossed away numerous floppies over the years; they were cheap enough that I could do it. In those cases the media, of course, rather than the drive, was the problem. The loss of a zip *drive* is of course not something to laugh off; but I have yet to meet the so-called click of death. It's interesting how that has become a byword. I have seen hard drives fail ("grinding crunch of death"?) but no one is saying hard drives are a bad investment. Something catchy about "click" perhaps?

<<Here, you have by IOM's own admission an installed base of 100,000 customers who are furious, having experienced the click of death. >>

Are you saying that 100,000 people have actually experienced the "click" ?

We got our new Jaz BTW. Will be handy in the lab. Too bad we didn't get it during the last quarter :-)

cheers
