Hoyle was a crackpot genius who opted for the truely impossible, tales of little green men which is the same as using imaginary gods to explain things. At least the little green men theory has some probability,but even good scientist are wrong all the time its the nature of the job. No different than YEC whack jobs today that are too lazy to even try to study the subject, make so much noise regarding deep time/age of the universe , denialism is so much easier than opting for magic super fairies. There are many kooks in science who do not answer their own questions, lets look at Michael Behe who hasnt expended one calorie of energy supporting his own claims, setting up experiments .
