CLEMSON, S.C. -- Tyler Colvin, the Cubs' first-round pick in this week's major-league draft, hit a ninth-inning grand slam to rally top-seeded Clemson to an 11-8 victory Friday over Oral Roberts and move the Tigers a game from the College World Series.

Golden Eagles closer Sean Jarrett "threw a slider and he left it up," Colvin said. "I was just going up there to try and hit the ball hard and hopefully find a hole. Luckily, I just hit it over the fence."

Oral Roberts (41-15) scored three runs in the top of the ninth for an 8-7 lead.

But the Tigers (51-14) loaded the bases on three straight singles before Colvin, picked by the Cubs 13th overall, sent his 13th homer into right field.
