Pinhi, the storage game is a very different game than PCs. Dell was able to build efficiencies into the sale/make/delivery of a very standardized product using commodity components, including software.

NTAP's technology is not a commodity. The hardware components of an NTAP box are the same commodities as a PC, but its is the NTAP software that gives it the price/performance/reliability/scalability/features...

Dell will do well selling RAID systems using NAS architecture running on flavors of Windows and UNIX. They will be able to cut the make/deliver costs to the bone, but the customer will still be paying more for a box that does not perform like an NTAP solution.

There are no efficiencies that Dell can provide in the make/deliver process that NTAP can't duplicate. So where is his advantage?
