Dr. C. Everett Koop Extends Agreement With drkoop.com to Seven Years;
Dr. Bruce Hensel Also Extends drkoop.com Agreement

AUSTIN, Texas, Jun 23, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- drkoop.com, Inc. (Nasdaq:
KOOP), a leading consumer health Network with more than 1.3 million registered
members and provider of Internet-enabled application services for the healthcare
industry, today announced the extension of its Name and Likeness branding and
content agreements with two of its world-class physicians. Dr. C. Everett Koop
and Dr. Bruce Hensel have each agreed to lengthen their agreements as key
medical representatives and contributors on the drkoop.com Network.

Former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. C. Everett Koop has extended his Name and
Likeness agreement with drkoop.com to seven years, two more than the contract
amendment signed in August 1999. Dr. Koop will continue as the Chairman of the
drkoop.com Board of Directors, as well as provide timely and relevant articles
that stem from his 60 years as a gifted physician, cutting-edge pediatric
surgeon and as the nation's Surgeon General. "I am pleased to see that
drkoop.com is leading the eHealth market with the highest of ethical standards,
while simultaneously taking action to operate its business more efficiently and
reduce its expense levels," said Dr. Koop. "In support of this effort and my
strong belief in the long-term future of the company, I have agreed to extend my
contract to seven years."

Dr. Bruce Hensel, popular medical television correspondent for KNBC-TV in Los
Angeles, who recently joined the drkoop.com Network as chief medical
correspondent, has also extended and expanded his Name and Likeness agreement
with the Company to four years. Under the terms of this new agreement, Dr.
Hensel is now playing an integral role in directing the drkoop.com breaking
health news, editing an ongoing Medical Minutes column, and providing a medical
Q&A for the drkoop.com Network. He will also assist in the production of and
appear in broadband content developed for the drkoop.com Television Partner
Program.

"Our first foray into leveraging our on-air and online network affiliates was a
huge success," said Donald Hackett, president and CEO of drkoop.com. "Dr. Koop
and Dr. Hensel both contributed to a 3-part series on the life- saving benefits
of the drkoop.com Drug Checker(R). The series, which first aired in Nashville,
Tennessee at WKRN-TV, increased traffic 300 percent over that market's average
daily page views to the drkoop.com Network. The Drug Checker series rolls out in
more than 20 additional TV markets throughout the summer and will then reside on
drkoop.com as the Company's entry into original broadband content." The Drug
Checker tool can be found at www.DrugChecker.com.

Dr. Nancy Snyderman, popular ABC medical news correspondent for the Good Morning
America television program, author of a new book entitled, "Necessary Journeys:
Letting Ourselves Learn From Life", and provider of the daily "Ask Dr. Nancy"
column for drkoop.com, continues to work with drkoop.com through an existing
agreement which currently runs through at least July of 2001.

"From inception, we stated that one of our strategic objectives was to establish
an online 'trust mark' where consumers would find the highest- quality health
information on the Internet. These three world-class physicians bring the
highest ethical standards to the drkoop.com Network," added Hackett. "We are
honored to have Drs. Koop, Snyderman and Hensel continue with our mission to
provide health-centric consumers a trusted place to better manage one of the
most important aspects of their lives ?- their families' health."
