Agreed. To be honest, there were very few recommendations from past Value Congresses that interested me over years. There's a lot overanalysis it seems, where someone presents some (obscure) company and finds hidden value in it... and then the value stays there or is destroyed by non-hidden crappy performance of the company. I think JCP and Sears were the big flops. IRDM might be another one.

The only talk I remember positively was Tilson on BRK, but then BRK does not need Tilson to advertise it. ;)

I think Mark Boyar is good in presenting his case on companies. MSG is his past call and has performed well. However, it's not a type of company I usually invest into and it's possibly not cheap anymore.

International picks might be more interesting than US picks.

Of course, like Spekulatius says some of these might be "exit" talks and not "entry" talks. ;)

And the market level also pushes people into questionable values. Though, as I mentioned above, past picks were also questionable at the time when market and blue chip companies were cheaper.
