I have a running discussion here with posters about calling people "smart, stupid, dumb," etc.

We all operate on a set of premises we believe. They run our subconscious brain, And once implanted, become "firmware" for our "hardware." They guide us from waking to sleep. The closer our premises are to the real world, the better they work for us. We change them reluctantly.

The invention of the scientific method gives us a good way to "check our premises." If our predictions of what is will happen to us if we do certain things conforms to reality, we get along better than if they don't. A.J. Galambos, a genius I took seminars from 35 years ago, started off by stressing that, in the field of politics, (the way we deal with each other,) one of the main problems was that we didn't define our terms. That's why I make a point of defining mine. You don't have to agree with my definition, but at least you know what I mean.

So when we deal with others how don't agree with us, our tendency, if the disagreement is big enough, is to call them names. It's an emotional reaction to their POV, and quite normal, we all do it.

Our firmware directs our actions on the Right the same way the firmware of a Leftist directs theirs. We are just as bound by our POV as they are by theirs.

What this means is that we need to recognize what is motivating them and deal with them accordingly.
