Trump played the Bernie Sanders card masterfully. He had no need to attack Sanders for his left wing positions because he knew the Democrats would do that for him. All he had to do was affirm Sander's anti-establishment campaign to bring notice to his own candidacy.

Now we all know that Trump is as establishment as it gets, but he was able to convince enough voters otherwise to get elected.

The Democrats self-destructed because most of them are right wing wackos.
