Dazed? Hardly. People as smart and as informed as Obama rarely get dazed. What he's doing is getting you all ready for a pull out.

When I think of Obama, "smart" isn't what comes to mind. "Naive" is. And others who understand the issues have come to the same conclusion (including Sarkozy, Ahmadenenjad and the Dear Leader).

As to whether he withdraws from Afghanistan, I don't know what the correct solution is -- but he is going be in a politically untenable position if he does anything less than McChrystal's recommendation and it fails.

My belief is he will make the worst possible decision, which is to "split the difference" and give McChrystal half what he asked for (20K). As the parent of a solider who could very possibly be deployed, it is absolutely an unforgivable mistake to continue the war with less support than the military has asked for. It is so obviously the wrong decision I could not imagine a president making it, but I see nothing in this president that would lead me to think he would do otherwise. The man is incompetent.

Given our current "commander in chief", I have doubts whether the war is winnable. Thus, a 100% withdrawal might be the best short-term solution. But we'll have to go back after he's out of office and straighten out the mess he created.
