It is direction independence which makes SRSC so desirable in the local loop. It isn't very significant that high throughput at long distance is achievable. That has little added value. The company keeps looking at wide and deep, but the added value which is achievable today comes from wide and shallow. Frauds like Harmonic and Juniper would be out of business if only narrowminded management at SR would get to work putting together ubiquitous 10 meg (shallow) 1000 channel(wide) sub-systems. The existing hierarchical and matrix distribution topology can be served well by SRSC. It can't be served with TDM and broadcast. Anent to this consideration BLS is working on FTTPC.
