You're quite right--and even if AFFX's technology does pay off over the long haul, there have to be some big bumps along the way. Nonetheless, I'm long AFFX. I (and some friends) believe in the genechip's utility, have invested money we are prepared to lose, and will stay with AFFX until it becomes clear to us that the tech is wrong or has been superseded. You're quite right to imply that it is risky: it is. But if it drops (and I wish it would) we'll hold and try to scrape together a bit more to buy more shares--unless our perception of the tech has changed. Anyway, it's possible for both bulls and bears to make on the same stock. Good luck to all. -Andy Patton
