I see huge turn around efforts going on at my local JC penneys, granted its an single cell sample but the sales associates were way more friendly than any department store I have been to recently. They were helpful and insisted on filling out surveys letting them know what works and what doesn't. Corporate office apparently review and every morning there have a roll call every morning. Old inventory from Ron Johnson days is almost all sold out at rock bottom prices, some apparently at $1.99. Gross margins should start to recover starting Q3 if there is any hope for a turnaround. They are starting to bring back brands old customers were loyalists too, again something to watch this Q3.

And of course like Jurgis pointed out, all of this doesn't necessarily mean a future bankruptcy...
