LONDON – Net sales in June 2011 for foundry Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. were down on a sequential basis, running against historic trends for the month, which helped produce a weak second quarter net sales figure, although this had been forecast.
For the second quarter of 2011 TSMC's net sales totaled NT$110,509 billion (about $3.84 billion) up 4.8 percent from the first quarter sales of NT$105,377. The net sales figure is in the middle of the guidance range for 2Q11 given by TSMC, but is lower than the typical sequential growth achieved by the company.
Over the last decade TSMC has, on average, posted net sales for Q2 that are 18.2 percent higher than the first quarter.
Unconsolidated net sales in June fell on a sequential basis by 0.9 percent, which is unusual, and were up 1.5 percent compared with June 2010, according to figures posted by TSMC (Hsinchu, Taiwan) on its website.
Over the last decade TSMC has, on average, posted June sales up 2.7 percent compared with the previous month. So a sequential decline is below trend.
Net sales for June 2011 on an unconsolidated basis were approximately NT$35.654 billion (about $1.24 billion), a decrease of 0.9 percent over May 2011 and an increase of 1.5 percent over May 2010. Revenues for January through June 2011 totaled NT$210.39 billion (about $7.32 billion), an increase of 10.3 percent compared to the same period in 2010.
On a consolidated basis, net sales for June 2011 were approximately NT$36.673 billion (about $1.28 billion), a marginal decrease from NT$36.709 billion in May 2009 and an increase of 0.9 percent over June 2010. TSMC said its consolidated revenues for January through June 2011 totaled NT$215,886 billion (about $7.49 billion), an increase of 9.5 percent compared to the same period in 2010. |
