Well, you can't blame all 1999 Kurds for what a few 1916 Kurds may have been compelled to do by their Turkish masters. Most Kurds living today were born after 1975, and don't even know of the events you reference. What they do know is that their yearning for freedom falls on deaf American (and Taiwanese) ears as they are seen as lacking strategic importance, their main export being camel-hair brushes used by a handful of European supermodels. In fact, it seems very wrong that the hills of Kurdistan are not filled with Taiwanese guerrillas helping their Kurdish brothers fight tyranny. After all, Taiwan is all too ready to launch us toward Armageddon on their behalf, but as others such as the Kurds plead to the world to help, the Taipei Morning Pokemon (or whatever the heck their newspaper is called) features nothing but sports scores and pictures of the Mayor at the opening of the latest Taipei McDonald's.

Maybe it's time we reconsider who is actually "deserving" of our aid.
