>>If they could just have a contest, where their faithful users, who just happen to be amazing designers, were to design a new logo, they could improve their image in many ways. Anything. I really don't care who comes up with it. But, I honestly think it's one of the best things they could do now.<<
Nathan, the Apple logo, like it or not, is one of the most recognized symbols in the world. Think about IBM, Coke, Sony, etc--can't you easily and instantly conjur up these companies and their products just by glimpsing their own logos?--Apple's is right up there in universal recognition. I'm not a big fan of their logo either, because to me it conjures up kids and schools and doesn't convey the image of creativity and professionalism very well to me. But the last thing a company in trouble would do is damage its visibility and statue in the crowded world of advertising/promotion. Many experts have said recently that the ONLY thing of value left at Apple right now is its name and logo. And that logo means quality, ease of use and customer satisfaction even to the average Joe who isn't an Apple customer. |
