Perhaps DeTe System is a way for Deutsche Telecom to test Ascend.
As for the bigger announcement, I'm taking this to be the DSL launch coming up in September. Do you know where NN stands? Siemens has already announced they'll have part of it, but I don't know if this is through MainStreetXpress, or on their own. I think the latter.

I'll see what I can dig up.
