Jean, you're right, Fowler's remarks also indicate IDX's direction. The story you attached looks to be an even less expensive ($99) PC-based, not networked-based, solution. It would compete with NRID's solution and with Touchlan products. It would be left behind by a Java-based plug-in.

We're all going to have to get a little familiar with the battle going on between Oracle and Netscape on one side and Miscrosoft on the other, over the importance of the PC versus the importance of the network. It looks now like Microsoft is trying to wedge its way into the network operating system (and getting in trouble with the government for its efforts). If IDX is able to get its algorithm adopted by both sides . . . well, it's over and we win. By the way, Netscape (with a majority of the current browser market) has a market cap of about $2.7 billion, down from about twice that earlier this year. I'd have to consider an adopted IDX solution to be valued at some percentage of all browser capitalizations.
