Of course not! Iraq was an actual nation. Iraqis MISSED that, and wanted it back.

Afghanistan has NEVER been one, but a collection of squabbling tribes for thousands of years. 74% of it's people are illiterate. Tens of thousands have the "tradition" of growing opium as a way to make a living.

It's just more troops and money down the rat hole. Gorbachev knows what he's talking about.
