"Do you sell naked or covered?"

I almost always sell covered. Naked takes more management than I care to invest. You should calculate the amount of holdings required to effectively hedge the position every day.

I have been known to sell puts when I wouldn't mind owning the stock at the strike price.

Options are always short term gains or losses for tax purposes.
