Well, the thought of a motorized dish is an idea. Something to keep in mind, one of the attractions to the smallers dishes, is the lack of maintenance. Of course, having for dishes you have more LNB's that may fail, but having a moving dish will undoubtedly have more reliability issues to deal with, due mechanical components. pinpoint accuracy is critical with the digital dishes, given their size. Also, similar it's cousin, the C Band dish, an occassional recalibration from time to time will needed to compensate for wear and use. To make it simpler, they would need to go to a prime focus dish on a horizon-to-horizon mount to properly track the geosyncronous satellites. Owning both a digital and analog C/KU band system, the one advantage I enjoy about the digital system, is that I don't have to wait for the dish to finish moving. With fixed dishes, you have a 200+ channel, channel-surfer's heaven, with no waiting :-) |
