Sounds like a bit of Sun Tzu. They are administering HFC voice from a field unit, if your interpretation of what you've seen is accurate. Interesting. That would mean that they must have some form of RF to digital PCM translation taking place within that enclosure, too. The signal coming in from subscriber coax drop is RF-based, and the Litespan is NGDLC (GR 303 digital). There needs to be a conversion taking place there, somewhere. Can anyone perform a sanity check on these assumptions, before we take it too far, only to find we're going the wrong way on a one way street?
