>>I'm sure it's like how I felt in the time between 9/11/2001 and the past year, maybe, when media outlets everywhere seemed to be content to be spoonfed the news by the Bush Administration. Take, for example, Judith Miller's series of stories about WMDs, in the months leading up to our invasion of Iraq. They were so unquestioning of the Administration's every statement that later, when no WMDs were found, the Times had to issue an apology for the sheer credulousness of the whole series of stories.<<

Just to save you guys the trouble, I'm going to cop to my own error in the paragraph above. Miller's source was Ahmad Chalabi. He was, of course, one of the Administration's main sources of information as well, and Rumsfeld's choice to be the first interim leader of Iraq following the invasion, though he was later arrested as an Iranian spy.

It's quite a convoluted story. I remembered it wrong. Please accept my humble apologies.

The gist of what I was saying is no less true. Miller knew that Chalabi was the Administration's man, and accepted what he told her as the gospel, without double-checking her facts.
