I'm in Destin FL now....Got married, moved about 22 miles east from my old home in Navarre beach.... Our new utility (in FL panhandle) is FPL.....They just completed takeover of Gulf Power, one of SoCo's subs..... First thing they did when the takeover process started was to remove my ability to track my electricity usage online + set usage alarm targets....sent to me by email or texts... I guess they don't care about the environment.... Our Master Generator for this area is the Crist plant....Recent repowering, coal to gas.... Within the next few years, I expect FPL to add a few small megawatt output, green type plants, solar/wind, very low capacity / non-dispatchable power + very small battery station.....Those actions should increase our electricity bills by at least 30/50% within ten years....The new utility model.... Over my years working in power plants, I probably worked with at least a half dozen ex-FPL employees.....Never met guys that hated their ex-employer so much....Nuke side or conventional....Not one of them had a good thing to say about FPL.... Supposed to get cold enough to freeze stuff here tomorrow night....Need to go drain a few irrigation pumps + remove hoses & bring plants indoors.... Have a good one!
