They can add weapons faster than we can build a BMD system. If you have their economics? Maybe not. And you are assuming that when you are adding to that BMD that is still an R&D project. Adding to a fielded tested system would be faster and less expensive. There is a pretty clear image the President/Administration builds that all incomings are intercepted. It's not possible. Would the Chinese launch because of an attack on Iran, Iraq, or even N. Korea- -knowing what the consequences for them would be? Those consequences would be MUCH worse that some fallout. They might demand reparations from the US for damage to their country and populace but take on the only remaining superpower?
