Ok, but until McKinley ships, Intel has to contend with the P4 getting higher Spec scores than Itanium. By the time that McKinley ships, Intel should have Northwood in the range of 3GHz, and Xeon will have Jackson technology. So McKinley will have to have 3, maybe 4 times the performance of Merced to have an edge, however small, over their IA-32 line. That isn't going to be easy.
