Ampex Corp. (AXC): The maker of magnetic tape devices may be acquired by a potential customer for
its ``keepered media'' technology, an unidentified San Francisco money manager told Business Week's
``Inside Wall Street'' column. The technology is being tested by disk-drive makers, including Seagate
Technology Inc. (SEG), Western Digital Corp. (WDC) and Quantum Corp. (QNTM), one of which may
make a bid for Ampex, the money manager said. Ampex shares fell 1/4 to 10. Seagate fell 7/8 to 55 3/4,
Western Digital fell 3/8 to 25 3/8 and Quantum rose 3/16 to 22 15/16.
