Misery loves company...
But I recently started reading a book by Steven Leeb, an editor of a popular financial newsletter (Personal Finance) that states big time inflation will happen in the next ten years and, when it does, gold (and silver) will have its/their day/weeks/months/years. Not too hard to believe. Basically, that's why I was not shy about allocating a significant part of my portfolio to gold/silver stock and am resolved to hold for as long as it takes. It's a hedge and a long term bet that, although my timing stank, still feels secure to me. Oh yeah, and choosing Hecla as the primary bet turned out to be wrong when they took that dive awhile back because one of their mines turned out to be a loser (I forget which one--Grouse Creek?). Anyway, they seem to be holding their (holes in the) ground now and have had some adequate news and the same newsletter recently recommended buying Hecla (and Echo). So there's some encouragement. Thanks for responding. I think we'll be o.k. if we continue to exercise patience (and pray for rampant inflation? --well, perhaps just enough to break even on Hecla).

Regards, D.C.
