QCOM cares a lot. It doesn't trust Apple which was looking into diversifying into new manufacturers if not making their own processors. MSFT does care. They want a mobile beachhead and Nok is handing it to them. They wouldn't be forking 1B/year if they didn't. Mobile is their missing link and they are smelling blood. Carriers don't like Skype but absolutely hate AAPL's subsidies. Facetime is just as bad as Skype as far as they're concerned anyway. Watch for Verizon getting into the Win8 game in a big way. AT and Ts profit was up last quarter thanks in part to lower subsidies, and it didn't go unnoticed by the other carriers.
