It is becoming more obvious that AOL "restructuring" hoopla was either: 1) A diversion to distract from AOL's staggering loses and slim chances of ever reporting a real quarterly profit or 2) Prep for AOL breakup (recognition that AOL cannot sustain the kind of losses needed to remain a player five years from now, hence the hiring of Pittman). or 3) Both. More info on AOL breakup rumors: packet.com BTW, any guess on what percentage of AOL's recent reported membership gain were on AOL's wildly popular 50 hrs. free plan? How 'bout 150%.
