Air Jordans are so popular that there's a truancy problem on release dates? FEET should get a sales surge at the end of this month with the release of the new Air Jordan. That would be the second Air Jordan release in this fiscal quarter, which should help FEET meet or exceed QI expectations.
Air Jordan Release Dates Moved to Non-School Days
BEAVERTON, Ore., March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to address reports of truancy surrounding past retail debuts of the Michael Jordan signature shoe, the Air Jordan, Nike, Inc. announced today a plan to move all future release dates of the Air Jordan to non-school days. The move immediately effects the upcoming retail launch of the third color of the Air Jordan 13, which was originally set to arrive at retail Wednesday, March 25. The new retail launch has been changed to Saturday, March 28.
''This was a decision based on Michael Jordan's desire, as head of the Jordan brand, to help solve the problems of truancy that have occurred during previous launches of his phenomenally popular signature shoe,'' said Erin Patton, Director of Marketing for the Jordan brand, which is a sub-brand of Nike. ''We've been working on moving these launch dates since last fall and are now happy to report that in cooperation with our retail partners we've succeeded in shifting all future releases to non-school days.''
Previous release dates of the Air Jordan 13 shoe were Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997 for the White/Red colorway and Friday, February 13, 1998 for the White/Carolina Blue colorway.
