There was a guy from Log Cabin Republicans just on MSNBC who gave some great answers. If there is a transcript posted on their site later it is worth a read.

One take from what he said, which is along the lines of my thinking is that the nameless gays have been being used by Bush/Cheney. Bush stood on that podium and used all gays to try and get votes from another group. He stood up there and spoke of his desire to enshrine the Constitution with what gays will not be allowed to participate in within this country. Yet he didn't have the guts to call us by name, but rather, we are "those people", by inference. nudge nudge, those nameless gays won't get anywhere with me. Hey, Bush, at least have the courage to call us by name when you say you want that Constitutional Amendment. A roll call. :) "JP, you mean squat to me, but I'm a nice guy, don't ya wanna have a beer with me?".

There was another outraged mother on Wednesday night. But she was outraged with Bush for what he wants to do in regards to her daughter. I hope there are a lot of other outraged mothers, angry at how Bush dismissed their children so cavilierly in his quest to do anything for a vote. He won't be getting a vote from a 78-year-old woman who has never voted for anyone but a Republican for President. She is leaving hers blank in protest. She already can't stand his fiscal policy, and the Amendment and this false outrage over Kerry's remark is the final blow. And, no, I can't get her to vote Republican even by tempting her that it would block Hillary out in 2008. :)

k, that's my rant for the day. ;)
