That's just what I heard on a news report. The disparity between low cost carriers and big guys pilots salaries is huge, $35,000 vs. >$125,000 (I knew a pilot making $250,000 8 yrs ago). The big guys just don't want to continue paying these kind of wages. I know of the demise of unions, but they seemed to be able to mobilize the AA pilots. There may have also been an issue of who flys the smaller jets or smaller routes, which would fit into your "control of jobs" analysis, but, I'm really not that familiar with this. This pick was not done in lieu of the AA troubles. It is just a company that I have
heard about before, knew it was real, and fit with my bottom picking strategy. It will move more on summer travel than anything.
