I never tried to place a wager (I'm from USA), but it seems to me that's really a lame reason for what went on yesterday. Most people would suppose that if they could get into the system and actually place a bet, that it is legal.

Obviously, if Starnet knew they were accepting bets from illegal sources, AND subsequently did nothing to resolve the problem, the authorities would have a case. But I can't see more than a fine and cease and desist order. And certainly, the C&D order on the suspicion would probably have solved the matter in the first place. This leads me to believe there is Canadian politics as usual in place here.

Question: Do any of the sites specifically ask the bettor for address information, or do credit card transactions simply ask for #/expiration date?
