There is a real ideological split at the Post between the Editorial and the News departments.

I read somewhere, wish I could remember just where, most likely Josh Marshall, that, in addition to that conflict, there were serious conflicts in the editorial staff itself. Seems Jim Hoagland had lost a lot of influence. So there editorial policy was a bit jagged.
