Bob-

I'd hate to dissapoint you, but the K6 is actually a 586 processor. It is NOT a 686 processor. The Pentium Pro is a 686.

The K6 probably will run 16-bit applications better than a Pentium Pro, but I seriously doubt that it will run 32-bit apps better. That is irrevelent because your not comparing apples with apples.

When making comparisons, compare the K6 with the Pentium on the same applications. If you insist on comparing the K6 with the Pentium Pro, then use 32-bit applications (which the PPro was developed for) as well as 16-bit.

Give me proof of a K6 running 32-bit applications faster than a Pentium Pro. The K6 sounds like vapor to me. Don't tell me what is coming, talk to about what is here (including Intel chips). Cyrix & AMD have been great innovators of empty promises, so I'll believe it when I see it. If you know of some reputable resource that shows the elusive K6 in action on 32-bit apps vs. a Pentium Pro, then maybe I'll believe what you say.

It sure is taking AMD long enough to get into the Pentium game. Intel started the Pentium game in 1993 and AMD is just showing up. Too bad Intel has since started a new game called the Pentium Pro.

Maybe AMD & Cyrix will someday join the Pentium Pro game. It will probably be after Intel has exploited it and is planning to move on. The problem is that after the Intel/HP game starts, neither AMD or Cyrix looks to even be invited!!
