You've probably heard of Cybersecuritieslaw.com, but in case you haven't gone to their home page and tried various searches through their news archives, here's the web site:

I'm not recommending that you be your own lawyer (only a fool would try to be his own lawyer, imo), but you might find some articles regarding litigation or SEC opinions on trading irregularities committed by online brokerage firms.

For example, when I did a quick search, I came up with a GAO report regarding shortcomings with online brokerage firms. See the following link for to see a copy of the GAO report.
