In short summary. Tengiz was discovered by the Russians and proven. That is the difference, it was already proven to be a very large field. So naturally Chevron and others buying in knew definitively what was in the ground.

The ultimate goal is to get I believe 700,000 bopd by 2005 or somewhere around then.

At no time in Chevrons dealing was there "potential or probable"; it was always more proven. I actually think that they up those proven figures since then.
