I'm a new user on AOL and I'm having problems with my Packard Bell
Legend 12CD 486 PC, 32 MB, 24DBF DataFAx Modem, Windows 95.

I initially installed the latest AOL 3.0 CD. I set the 24DBF modem
to Hayes compatable, 14400 bps (modem documented to support 14400). Each time I connected to AOL, the
screen would hang and eventually AOL would log me off. AOL's
technical support claimed it is a known problem with the 24DBF
modem. He had me reinstall AOL v3.1 which I believe is a minimum
version that minimizes graphics and sounds. He had me modify the
modem setup to 2400 bps and send a s0=0 during modem initialization.
Now it seems to work but it's so slow that it's virtually useless.
I tried increasing the modem speed to 4800, 9600, ... 14400, but
anything beyond 2400 causes the hang/logoff problem.

Is there a patch available to fix the 24DBF modem? Any
recommendations? I sent this to Packard Bell, but I haven't received a response yet.

Thanks,
Jim
