Good summary. I agree with you about Rubin "brilliant AND a democrat to the core."

a permanent corporate income tax rate cut, would have exceedingly little short-term stimulus benefit relative to the cost. For example, cutting the corporate income tax rate from 35 percent to 25 percent would cost roughly $850 billion, including debt service, over 10 years. But the short-term stimulus from that cut would be a very small fraction of that cost.

Pretty silly to think cutting corp taxes would not make the companies go up in value. Heck, less taxes means more revenue makes its way to the bottom line in the form of income that can either to to dividends or reinvested in growing the company.

I think the "short term stimulus" would be immense AND immediate as analysts would be able to up all earnings estimates for companies making money.

I often think most companies should not pay taxes and let those of us that invest in them pay the taxes on dividends or capital gains.... I guess when you have shipped your job over to Singapore since that government said they would let HP pay no tax for a number of years if HP moves some R&D over there.... you can see how taxing corporations is bad for US workers.... No complaints from me as they gave me a choice between a better job or a severance package, but not all were so lucky...
