Hello Chuck I don't know the source of the opinion on "Factfinder" but I would suggest to you that it is either misinformed or has another agenda. The aboriginal population of the NWT is preferentially treated through government assistance and services and are treated as land owners regardless of whether claims are settled or not. THis is a very sensitive issue, but put delicatly, many Canadians are very eager to claim aboriginal status due to the opportunites that accrue to them either through government policy, services and/or visual politics.
