Pact Spells Out Joint Effort in North and South America
MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 2, 2001--Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: ARW - news), the world's largest distributor of electronic components and computer products, announced today that it has signed a franchise agreement with Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ: BRCM - news).

Based in Irvine, California, Broadcom is the leading provider of integrated circuits enabling broadband communications. The agreement, which went into effect on February 1, 2001, covers distribution of Broadcom's products in North and South America.

Arrow Electronics brings Broadcom customers the highest level of design engineering and technical support. The relationship also increases Broadcom's exposure to Arrow's large customer base of networking and broadband communications equipment manufacturers.

``Arrow's expertise in communications technology and its proven leadership in assisting customers with system designs and technical support further broaden Broadcom's ability to support customers in the fast-growing broadband communications market,'' said Aurelio Fernandez, Broadcom's Vice President of Worldwide Sales. ``Arrow's ability to work with original equipment manufacturers on the design of products, as well as its ability to support OEMs with world-class supply chain solutions, will provide customers with added flexibility in design solutions and sourcing.''

Broadcom's products will be sold by all appropriate Arrow North American Components sales groups but targeted within the Arrow/Wyle Communications Group, which is focused on networking and communications customers in 18 North American markets.

``Broadband networking and communications are dynamic areas in our industry today and the addition of Broadcom affords our customers more design options,'' said Skip Streber, President of Arrow/Wyle Communications Group.

``Leading-edge solutions that help promote design leadership in broadband networking and communications are highly valued and the addition of Broadcom gives our customers more flexibility in their design solutions,'' commented Paul Buckley, Senior Vice President of Arrow's Supplier Services Group.
