Haven't you heard? The only number that matters to the left now is the "true unemployment number" which purportedly includes the number of people who have permanently stopped looking for jobs.

The higher unofficial numbers of this administration are often used in comparison with the lower official number of the previous administration for blatant partisan reasons just like the way the number of jobs lost during this adminstration -- when measured from the very peak of a financial bubble -- is used. Needless to say, those peak numbers were never sustainable.

It's just too bad that this kind of partisan discussion only obscures the phenomenon, that we continue to shift from a manufacturing-based economy to a service-based economy. Put simply, we are in uncharted territory but there are still too many jackasses in both parties who want to use the rearview mirror to drive forward.
