What he does want are tougher rules on purchases that might have kept six of his city's police officers from being shot with guns bought at the same gun store. A lot of gun owners get that. Everyone "gets that" the question is what law would have possibly prevented this since all the guns presumably went through NICS. The only idea from the article would imply the guy was on the watchlist.
