Southern populism will wear thin nationwide. Democrats hate trial lawyers too and an effective, not nasty, republican campaign taking a hard look at either Edwards cases or just the ambulance chasing industry in general, will sink in. Cheney will never become popular again. But when we get closer to election and someone asks the question of who you want as President if bin laden takes out the white house, even the biggest cheney haters will choose him. In a war the commander in chief doesnt always have to be pretty or popular. The above said, McCain and Powell would also wipe out Johnny boy too on the above posed question. mike
